The tenugui hand towels made in Japan use a traditional technique to create the outline of the mountains, showcasing the craftsmanship of the craftsmen. This method uses a spatula to carefully apply the colored paste to each piece of fabric, and unlike ordinary printing, the color will penetrate all the way to the back of the fabric.
In addition, the bleed and friction effects that cannot be achieved with machine printing give the towels a warm, handmade touch. The raw edges created when the fabric is cut are the essence of hand towels. They dry quickly and are hygienic, effectively preventing the growth of bacteria. With use, the raw edges will gradually smooth out and eventually become fringed.
